Vantin is used for: Treating mild to moderate infections caused by certain bacteria. Vantin is a cephalosporin antibiotic. It works by interfering with the formation of the bacteria's cell wall so that the wall ruptures, resulting in the death of the bacteria.

Do not take cefpodoxime if you have ever had an allergic reaction to another cephalosporin or to a penicillin without first talking to your doctor. This may decrease the absorption of cefpodoxime. Before taking cefpodoxime, tell your doctor if you are taking any of the following medicines - another antibiotic.
- warfarin (Coumadin); or
- a loop diuretic (water pill) such as torsemide (Demadex), bumetanide (Bumex), furosemide, or ethacrynic acid (Edecrin);
- probenecid (Benemid);

Store the tablets at room temperature away from moisture and heat. Store the suspension in the refrigerator between 36 and 46 degrees Fahrenheit (2 and 8 degrees Celsius). Symptoms may include abdominal pain; seizures; nausea; headache; diarrhea; vomiting. Proper storage of Vantin (Cefpodoxime) : Store Vantin at controlled room temperature between 68 and 77 degrees F (20 and 25 degrees C). Store away from heat, moisture, and light. Do not store in the bathroom. Replace cap securely after each opening. Brief storage at temperatures between 59 to 86 degrees F (15 to 30 degrees C) is permitted.
